Female orgasms could potentially kill men

advertisement

When an orgasm has been achieved through sex, you can measure theta waves. These are also said to cause the "running high" feeling of euphoria experienced sometimes by marathon runners. If theta waves are taken as a criterion, the entire brain emits theta waves when women reach an orgasm that are close on 10 times stronger than when men climax. So, if theta waves are an indication of an orgasm's strength, then women experience an orgasm that is physically impossible for men to go through. Putting it a little crudely, if the intensity of a woman's orgasm was played through a man's brain, there's a danger that the shock to his system would kill him. That risk makes it impossible to experiment on a man at the moment. And men can never become women. But my co-author, Kaneko, used the experience of people who have undergone a sex change (either a woman born with a man's brain or vice versa) to explain the pleasure women feel.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Women aren't the only ones who can clobber the opposite sex - I have caused a vagina or two to explode in my time.

Perhaps. However, as a man, I'm proud to say that, at no point in my life, will I have to crap a watermelon. Given this obstacal, women can have whatever biological advantage they want as long as they keep that little stipulation.

Sorry for being the one to throw in a serious comment, but if these studies are so tentative in the first place, whence do they derive the idea that just because men aren't accustomed to 10x the theta wave intensity, they would be physically unable to withstand those waves?

It seems like this study was designed to prove a point rather than answer a question...

Greg, that's why I referenced the article I did in another place. The 10x theta readings may or may not mean anything, but there's no evidence they are cause and effect.

I think its hot. I love watching a woman climax. Its almost as enjoyable as climaxing myself and I cum hard. But after reading this I have realized that due to my over stimulated brain I must be picking up on some of the theta waves. Just a small percentage obviously but nonetheless enough to get me aroused and breathing deep.

Am I the only person who found that article to be full of unsubstantiated assertions that bordered on bizarre? It's certainly a cultural thang -- the piece toed into Engrish at points (and certainly, the ads on the side did).

This was my favorite:

Just as heroes are said to love sex, the more developed a person's frontal lobe is, the more active their sex life is going to be.

That was pretty much it. No discussion of who these "heroes" are and nothing more on the frontal lobe. No reason why these ideas should even be connected.

And the title of the article is so completely misleading (and spooky sexist).

JeezyChreezy Am I the only person who found that article to be full of unsubstantiated assertions that bordered on bizarre?

Jeezy, I mostly agree with you. I looked into the theta waves stuff - I found lots of people saying the brain waves were increased but no legit correlation. If you'd like to see another article I did on reverse engineering the female orgasm, there you go.

Actually, in looking over my archive, I write way too many articles on vaginas. But someone has to ...

SJP I am pretty sure the guys in that seeded article were making things up but I am absolutely convinced telepathic transmission of a girl's theta waves to you is something you just invented. I could be wrong, though - one time a supermodel tapped on the shoulder to get directions to the bathroom so she could purge and she burst into flame because I was so hot. So weird stuff can happen when scientists are around.

racheldora Yep, I even looked up some of that Kundalini stuff ... brainmapping an orgasm is cool research. If I weren't involved in that daily "save the physicists, save the world" battle between junk science and real science, I would totally make reverse engineering the female orgasm my career.

Sempron I still think 9x the theta waves would be better. Enough to get the effect, not so much that you actually die.
